GS means “Geprufte Sicherheit”(safety has been certified) in Germany, but it also means “Germany Safety”. GS is a voluntary certification based on SGS, European standard EN and industrial standard of Germen DIN. GS is the German safety certification mark which is recognized by European market. Product accompanied by GS mark means that its’ use security has passed the test carried out by the accredited notified body. Although GS mark is not the mandatory requirement by the laws, it ensure that the manufacturer can be restricted by SGS of Germany (Europe) in the occasion of accident caused by product failures. Therefore, GS mark is a powerful marketing tool which can enhance consumers’ confidence in products and purchasing desire. Although GS is a Germany standard, it has obtained the consistent recognition by the majority European states.
